Canelobre Caves
From the series "what to do on the Costa Blanca"
In addition to sunbathing and sea bathing, we recommend a visit to the Canelobre Caves in Busot, approximately 60 km from Alicante.
The caves have an area of over 80,000 m2.
The caves can be accessed through a 45-meter-long tunnel.
How were the caves formed? In the process of crystallization of water and rocks.
The water and rock formed many impressive forms, such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns and jellyfish.
The process continues, and it takes tens or even hundreds of years to produce one kilogram of "rock product", depending on climatic conditions.
The caves were not open to the public until the mid-20th century.
During the Civil War they were used by the Republican Army as an aircraft repair shop and it was during this period that an access tunnel to the bay was drilled, as well as several platforms.
You can buy tickets to the caves online:

The cave tour is organized with a guide who talks interestingly about the processes taking place in the caves.
The price includes entry to the Ethnic Museum in the town of Busot.
Opposite the caves, you cannot miss the view from the Mirador del Cabeco d'Or with its landscape of the surrounding area.
We invite you!
